Promoting the concept of socially responsible business model is one of the basic endeavors of SMart Kolektiv. Keeping in mind the importance the concept might have on the long-term development of Serbia, SMart Kolektiv has focused its efforts on assembling interested individuals and organizations and most of all on reaching the greatest possible number of businessmen. We have, therefore, in cooperation with the Fund for the Open Society and the Serbian Economic Chamber, and with the support of the BTD foundation, formed and managed a national program of CSR promotion in late 2004 - the Responsible Business Initiative (RBI). The RBI project was the first strategic introduction into corporate social responsibility and cross-sector cooperation in Serbia. The initiative strove to gather some of the leading companies in a council for corporate social responsibility, with the aim of creating conditions for their future mutual development. Corporate social responsibility is one of the key strategies of sustainable development which the European Union clearly supports, and every effort to promote it is undoubtedly a step further towards reaching the standards of the European society and market, and a contribution to the "Europeanization" of Serbia. In that sense, RBI has attempted to bring the CSR closer to the engagements on the Serbian business scene and make that topic more important and relevant for all the sectors in Serbia.
While taking initiative in the field, SMart Kolektiv has instigated several schemes:
"Introducing CSR": spreading the CSR idea in the Serbian society - a program of informing the public and all the relevant stakeholders with the CSR concept
Business Leaders Forum Serbia (BLF Serbia) - a network of companies present on the territory of Serbia and willing to get engaged in this field.
Cross-section partnerships - a program aimed at gathering various sectors, primarily the business and non-governmental ones and at developing the cooperation among them.
Resource center - SMart Kolektiv has also focused its activities on the systematization of knowledge and practices in this domain.
